The evening courses section of Comboni Secondary School and the offices
of Comboni College of Science and Technology (CCST) in Port Sudan were honoured with
the visit of the Spanish Ambassador to Sudan, H.E. Isidro Gonzalez Afonso. It was
his first visit to Sudan after being evacuated from
Khartoum at the beginning of the war.
The ambassador was welcomed in Beja language by one of the teachers of the Secondary
School. After that, the students of English, French and Spanish of the evening
section of
the school shared with him their progress in the respective language of study.
The ambassador encouraged them to continue enlarging their cultural horizons and to
become active protagonists of the reconstruction of the country.
The CCST team in Port Sudan shared with the Ambassador about the ongoing projects
and programs with Spanish institutions. In this moment, the College is part of a
Erasmus Ka107 exchange program with Universitat Politècnica de València UPV, a
Erasmus Ka2-Capacity Building in Higher Education project, "Enhancing Higher
Education e-learning structures and modules in conflict regions of East Africa
(EAGLE)" also with UPV, the University of Nicosia, Ahfad University for Women, the
Catholic University of South Sudan, St. Mary’s College of
Juba, Tangaza University
College of Nairobi and Eldoret University and a program of linguistic pairs con la
Universitat
Ramon Llull of Barcelona. One of the staff members is also benefitting
from a scholarship with Universidad Internacional de La Rioja (UNIR) for a Master in
Big Data and Visual Analytics. This university is also sharing its virtual library
with College students and staff.
